Total suppressor noob here. I'm looking to get a suppressor and wanted to choose the most flexible one as possible. I see on this forum people talking about using larger caliber suppressors so they can use them on multiple guns of equal or smaller caliber. The obvious advantage is the reduced cost. Is there any disadvatages? Do they suppress smaller calibers less?
In my dream world I'd like to get a suppressor that I could use with 338LM, 308 and 223 rifles and a 45 pistol. Is that possible? What about just getting a 338LM supressor to use with all the rifles? I see that they are rather large, that's a downside and will the suppression on the 223 even be worth it? Maybe just get a 308 suppressor and use it on that and 223? Thanks for any advice. |

338LM & 45acp won't work in a .30cal can....everything else you listed is GTG.
Just remember, the bigger the hole in the end, the more sound can escape. Bigger cans on smaller calibers don't suppress as well as a can with the "proper" bore diameter for the caliber you're using. I have a .45 and .30cal can to cover most applications...hope this helps. ~WTS |
