I went with the split rig because it gets hot AF in OKlahoma and I wanted a way to dump heat and also get as low in the prone as possible. I love this rig. To me it's big enough to carry the ammo I need plus pretty much everything else I'd tolerate hanging off my chest weight wise, while still being in a smaller form factor vs something like a fully kitted out TT MAV ( which is also killer kit). If it had a way to make the open top mag pouches enclosed, it would be perfection to me. |

One thing I was wondering is it’s easier to remove it with the zipper up front like that? |

| Split front chest rigs are way easier to remove than solid front chest rigs in my opinion. They're more like a vest in that way. I like micro rigs to be solid front and larger "macro" rigs to be split front. The Mayflower also has an adjustable "G" hook retention strap, so if you needed to quickly put it on over something bulky like winter layers, you can still close the rig with the zipper open. It's a well thought out rig. |
