I have 2 questions for the experienced Duracoat users out there. I am planing on Duracoating my old Remington 742 Carbine. Most of the blueing is worn off but it is still slightly glossy so i was wondering if i needed to do anything to prep it. Also I was wondering if the Duracoat would fill in the serial number and if so what do you guys do to make it still visible. Thanks for the help!

The best approach is to sandblast the surface with 120 grit aluminum oxide so the Duracoat has something to 'bite' to. If done correctly, your serial number shouldn't be filled in.

You should also look into Cerakote C series air cure before you buy Duracoat.
