Going to be starting up a MK14 EBR build here in a short while after i put optics and the finishing touches on my MK12 Mod 1 build.  Need to start getting the parts in my head and down on paper as well.  I will be starting with a Springfield Squad.  First off be doing the Smiith Ent. conversion on the front it SEI gas lock p/n 2013, Vortex p/n 2000V Gas plug SEI p/n 2003 and ill be adding the SEI extended bolt release p/n 2076.  Going to go with theSAGE MOD1 in the grey to save some weigh. From reading i hear it is lighter then the Mod 0.  Scope mount will be Larue LT168(I think thats the model number) and optics will be Leupold Mk4 LR/T 10x40mm Mildot in SEI rings.  Anyone know what SEI ring height i should go with?  Some other things im still trying to nail down is which bipod to go with, and what pelican case works best, 1750? Also does anyone have a picture of full kits in pelican cases.  So, thats the plan so far feel free to input and make suggestions.  Eventually i would like to put the SEI 18" Barrel too, but maybe down the road a bit.

Thanks

Medium Rings, I believe.

My only opinion on the matter relates to the Larue mount:  It's your only non-spec part.  You're saving, what, $50-60 from the real Sage part?  I know what this clone costs, don't try to weasel out of $60 bucks!!  Nothing against Larue, they make excellent equipment that I would recommend to anyone any day of the week (and maybe better than Sage, I dunno), but - IMO - on a Sage stock and especially on a clone, get the real part.  Plus, I think the Larue's look a little too "streamlined" and kinda out of place.

H20_Man - your rifles look awesome, seriously.  But I never liked the looks of the Larue mount.  On something so beastly and edgy, that Larue is just too... nice.

Also, I believe the clones wear Leupold Mk4 rings too.

Thank you!

Both cantilever rail extensions are "real" M14 parts and both are covered in great detail over on The M14HDW Forum.

The SAGE M14DCSB is robust just like the EBR chassis stock.
The M14DCSB is standard equipment on the TACOM M14EBR-RI.
It is meant for extreme heavy duty use on a full length rifle.

The LaRue LT-608 is simple and robust.
It was made specifically for the USN SEAL MK14 Mod 1.

LaRue LT-608

Length of usable rail: 5.75"
Weight: 6.8 Oz.

SAGE M14DCSB

Length of usable rail: 6.75"
Weight: 8.8 Oz.

I currently use the LT-608 on my modernized M14s because of it's
simplicity and because I am not seeing any extreme heavy duty use.
I am planning to build a copy of the TACOM M14EBR-RI with the M14DCSB soon.

I use LOW wire EDM rigs from SEI

Also, SAGE offers a top rail that is machined at the factory to accept SEI's traditional over the receiver scope mount.

USNRigger, the M14ALCS/CV a.k.a. Mod 1 stock is a good choice for weight reduction.
My MK14 SEI Mod 0 fits in a Pelican 1700, but the Mod 1 is too long for the 1700.
Both the 1720 and the 1750 will work.

My 22.0" Crazy Horse M21A5 EBR in a Pelican 1720 before cutting the foam.

I hope that helps,

Ah ha - that's where I was wrong!  #1, I haven't been to your forum in ages.  #2, I am going for a Mod 0 and had my facts wrong.
