Anyone own one? I`d like some feed back on this system, especially from the bigger guys. Will the XL fit a fairly large frame?

I'm issued a MAR-CIRAS, and while I'm not a really big guy (5' 10", 195 lbs.), some of my buddies run about 240 lbs and use the size XL, though everyone I know prefers the size large plates in the size XL carrier.

The CIRAS is nice and has pretty good coverage.  I prefer a system that has a side opening like the CIRAS as opposed to the front opening of the IBA, though I like to keep most of my stuff mounted to the side of my kit, keeping the front clean for lying prone with the long gun.  The side opening system makes this more difficult.  This is why I mostly use a DBT plate carrier with the front opening IIIa cumberbund.  Most like to have their stuff up front, and the CIRAS has lots of real estate in the front for attaching stuff.  You can still mount things on the side, but it will make opening and closing the vest a bit more tedious and gear can drag on stuff and open the hook-pile closures.  It's a very nice system, though.

I know of a company that makes some side release buckles that attatch to MOLLE that would help keep those side pannels closed. If I go with a CIRAS that`s what I`ll do.
