Anybody have one?  Do the pads for the waist stay put? Or do you guys use them?  I guess by pics, they are removable.  Just would like to hear before I buy.  Thanks

Are you referring to the H-Harness component of the Ranger Load Carry System RLCS?

RLCS is composed of the entire equipment loadout issued to Rangers, in, hey, Ranger Green.   From a full body armor system to plate carrier, Rhodiesian Chest Rig, a molle belta/H-Harness, padded war belt, all the mag, frag, smoke, coms, medical and other specialized pouches.

Stoner, sorry, I sorta knew that, but yes sir, meant the H Harness.  Are there pads in the bottom of that?  Seems kind of cheap from the pics I've seen of them.  I realize they are not a junk company.

Thanks a lot man for the help.

Can't see the lower back piece on the belt in that pic, like 4 PALS columns wide x 3 rows tall. Smaller dudes can remove that piece leaving the whole lower back exposed for ventilation.

They take closed cell foam inserts that are supposed to help with bouyancy and comfort (but hot hot hot in summer/tropics) about the same material as the GI sleeping pad, maybe a bit thinner.they fit pretty close to size in the harness and belt. You may dig the belt pads for comfort while wearing a full belt order loadout skipping the harness back pad to allow max ventilation.

I guess it all comes down to, its going to depend on your intended use and how much kit you intend to carry on it. If you just want a light LCE/Alice type replacement, a couple mag pouches, a GP/Nav, IFAK, comms and water, it works fine without the pads.

If you have a Brit belt order arrangement, keeping enough ammo, water, provs for up to 3 days on the belt in various pouches, keeping the back and shoulders free, the belt pads come in handy.

Bouyancy, the pads may help provide neutral bouyancy with a light loadout, don't expect it to perform as life supporting floatation with a full rig.

HEre's a bunch of different examples of belt order rigs:

Stoner, so the pads slip up underneath, correct? I like the idea of pads and all, but it just seems like it would be a little slicker, sealed up better.

As for my setup, no, I have intentions of a gorilla loadout on it.  I want to use it to build more of an assault rig.  So in other words, 4-8 mags, depending, pistol mags, ifak, dump pouch.  What do you think?  Pads needed or no?

Also thanks for the link.  Very cool stuff there.  I don't recognize, or know of, about 3/4 of it.

The pads are totally covered by the mesh "bags" that form the lumbar panel, back panel and both fronts.   There is a velcro secured slit opening on the backside, just slip the foam pc inside and smoosh the velcro back together, no shifting or chance of losing the foam pc.

My military experience was with the 3mag Alice LC2 mag pouches, which had a tendency to shrink making it rather difficult to remove the first mag, which gave rise to 550 cord tucked under the baseplate which evolved into MagPuls.

You have closed top, open top bungee secured and open topped kydex tension secured magazine pouches.   There are some Ranger Green 3 mag shingles on the Bay right now, you can either use the 1.5" web snapped flaps or convert them to bungee cords.   RLCS twin and quad mag pouches and an occasional Tactical Tailor 3 mag pouch.    There were some Paraclete Smoke Green pouches on the Bay, too for decent price, more economical than the collector priced Eagle RLCS Ranger Green pouches.

I'm old school, I have to have at least one GI plastic 1qt canteen with stainless cup and Ranger stove for brewing up cawfee.   I'd put two each RLCS Canteen/Utility Pouches on the back of the front panels, holster on one side, radio pouch on the other, then IFAK, and pistol and carbine mag pouches.  Might even skip one RLCS Canteen/Ute pouch if using a Camelbak, so can arrange magazines and a GP/Nav pouch in the mix.   Leave the lumbar panel open for riding in vehicles or add an old school OD or RLCS buttpack as needed.   There are over a hundred different set ups in that GearSoc thread I posted earlier.

Is the RLCS now a legacy part?  Or is it still in use?
