Guys,

I own a DSA 21" barrel standard SA58 rifle, which I really enjoy shooting.

But, I'm getting a fair amount of "dinging" around the inside top of the ejection port from ejected cases. I do have the DSA extreme duty scope mount on my upper, which I believe is aluminum alloy.

Is this normal? I've set my gas setting as low as suggested in the manual to cut down on recoil. I have around 1000 rounds through the rifle.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, it is pretty normal.  You can reduce it or eliminate it with some light file work on the fixed ejector if you are handy (and a little brave):

I use a piece of stick on Velcro, the smooth (pile) side.

Another +1 for the velcro. I use it on both my FAL's

Guys,

Thanks for the input. One question, how do you keep the velcro or tape from getting hung up on the bolt and flying around loose inside the receiver?

You put it on the receiver behind the ejection port, NOT on the inside edge of the ejection port.

Frontier,

That's my problem, I'm getting dings on the inside edge of the ejection port. Not so much on the outside.

I'll try to post a picture later.

Thanks

BRASS KISSES are normal and should cause you no alarm.. Years ago I worried a bit at first when I noticed the KISSES on my Very NEW first FAL.. But once I understood what they were my concern went away, now it's just a sign the rifle is being used..
