Hey guys, Im starting the process and have acquired a SS Apogee tube and some CS SD end caps.  Unfortunately the end caps have a slightly smaller OD than the tube and I just hate the way it looks.  Do I have any options on SS end caps besides DM?  They are out of pretty much everything right now.  Id like to get my paperwork started asap but dont want to until I have my overall length sorted out.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You can file your overall length longer than it is going to actually be.
Get to filling!

OP...honestly, any decent machine shop you find should be able to do it. Pretty sure there are a couple over on the other Form 1 boards that can, as I know they're making 80% cones, and some tubes.

For that matter, you can file it shorter than it's going to be.

You can watch the website, the part you reference has been instock fairly often lately.  The Non-DM 1.55" is what you would want.  To make the parts correctly for the Apogee/SDTA Steel tubes you have to have to start with 1.625" bar stock and turn it down to 1.55", and it is cheaper for them to to use 1.5" bar stock and have it undersized.  Any machine shop can do it but need one without a minimum order fee, which is $75-100 at most shops.  The threading is 1 7/16 - 20tpi and they are typically threaded to .45" depth, OD would be 1.55.

I got the ss advanced cone endcap on order just now.  Thanks for the heads up.  I just need the direct thread adapters to become available and Ill be all set.  Thanks for the info on which part to order too, I was unsure before I read your post.

I ordered a stack of paper forms from the ATF website this morning. I should be able to file soon.

Why not just print them instead of waiting on them to mail the forms? Or use eForms if filing as an entity.

Well, I was under the impression that when you file an eform you dont actually get a paper stamp.  Im old school enough that I like to have a hard copy of everything  I could have printed them but the website had a kit that included the fingerprint cards etc.  I thought it would be nice to take everything I need to the PD with me.  Maybe they will be more cooperative since I have three forms to complete (two cans and one sbr).  This is my first time doing this and I want it to be just right.  Also, Im not in a rush so an extra week wont kill me.  I've been spending my time reading the "how to file a form 1" thread and will be researching while I wait.

Gotcha. If you're fooling with the PD, you must be filing as an individual...so eForms is out of the equation anyway (at least for now).

It's nice to have at least one "real" stamp, but you'll end up with all real stamps at least for the first ones.

You are allowed to amend your application if you find that it comes out to a different dimension. Also note that no one is going to come to your house with a ruler.

No but if its used in a self defense shooting you will be in a world of hurt even if the shoot is a good shoot.
