Do you still have to get a lower/receiver engraved if it was transfered to you as a factory complete SBR?

If it is something like a Colt LE6921 that is a factory SBR than no since Colt is the maker.

Of course you still get to pay all the taxes just the same.  Just a Form 4 instead of a Form 1

That's exactly what I'm talking about.  A SBR that left the factory as an SBR.  I was just wondering if that step would still be required.

According to my dealer, its cheaper to get a factory SBR than to get a lower and turn it into an SBR.  $200 tax stamp for a lower to get converted, as opposed to $5 to transfer a factory complete SBR.

Your dealer is wrong it is a $200 stamp for the SBR I believe AOW's have the cheaper stamp but is is most definitely absolutely positively a $200. stamp.

It is the exact same process as getting a suppressor.

$5 is for AOW

the only thing you'll save is the cost of engraving.

ETA: But take your dealer up on that offer and have them pay the extra $195. Make sure they put it in to begin with otherwise several months down the road when you are wondering what is taking so long it will be because the ATF is waiting on more money.
