If anyone is willing, I would appreciate some engraving pictures and what companies you all like to use for Form 1'd weapons.
I am approaching 3 months on two SBR stamps and would like to see what sort of options, if any (location, style, size, etc), and what companies would be worth sending receivers off to. Thanks, John |

Ident Marking will engrave pretty much wherever you want...they have several examples on their web page. I had mine engraved in the area above the trigger on my AR receiver.
They engraved my 23 18 character name (including spaces; I put my middle name initial in too ) and town/state there, with no problems. Unlike some engravers, they don't require your lower be detail stripped, too...
Edited to add - Wait, you're already approaching 3 months in and they aren't engraved yet? If I were you I'd send them out ASAP. I sent mine out to be engraved the day after I mailed the form 1 out. I didn't want to deal with the possible hassle of mailing out an NFA item to be worked on; I don't know the rules/regs of sending out an NFA item but I do know the rules/regs of sending out non-NFA receivers. I figured I'd better get it over with before I find myself needing to research a bunch of new laws. Further edited - I Forgot, they used my middle initial, not my whole middle name

awesome and thanks. about how much do they charge? I think i mine was around $57 (I could be wrong). You could always just IM or Email karma or call 469-464-5500. I really like engraving on the front of the mag well. Also, I got mine engraved before I even sent my Form 1 to the ATF.
Also, take a look through this thread here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=51&t=331624 |

Or you can start calling some engraving businesses in your city. I did that here in Reno, NV successfully.
The first store sounded like I called and asked for their first born though. "We do NOT work on guns or gun parts ever!" Well, thanks, ok then..... *shakes head* But the second call was successful and I found someone who engraved many guns before and knew exactly what I needed to get done. Dropped the receiver off and picked it up a few days later. Cost? $20. YMMV Best of luck. |
