Well after alot of thought I called Entreprise and spoke to them about a FAL.  I really picked their brain, because I've seen good and bad threads over in FALfiles.com.  They sounded like they where on the ball so I ordered one.  I wanted the Imbel parts on a type 1 receiver.  They built it just the way I wanted it.  The only thing I don't like is the furniture, so I'll be getting some Iron wood stocks soon.  I took it to the range today with a good freind of mine, and I went through 90 rnds of Winchester Q3030.  I didn't get to zero it with the irons because I ordered the sight tool seperate, and I hadn't gotten it yet.  The funny thing is, it was waiting for me when I got home.  I did zero it with a cheap 3x9 Bushnell on it though.  I had a blast shooting it, and could easily hit the 3" target I had up at 100 yds.  I also put on an old Burris speed dot that I had laying around, but it didn't do so well.  It wouldn't hold zero.  I've been told by several people that FALs are brutal on optics, and I guess they where right.  Well anyway, I seen that some people where asking about where to get a FAL, and I can tell you my experience with Entreprise has been a good one so far.

Sorry for the bad picture.  I'll post better pics later, but this is the only one I took today.  I'll take more of it outside with some natural light so everyone can see more detail.  I've always wanted a larger battle rifle, and now I have one.

Looks sweet! What's the barrel length and what kind of scope mount did you use?

I think the bbl is 21" or 23" (can't remember), and I got the Arms scope rail.  Here are some better pics.

WOW, I've been over in the FALfiles.com forums.  The majority really seem to hate Entreprise.  I guess it has to do with some poor business practices.  I'm not sure if it is a real quality concern or not, but I'm takeing mine out to the range again and give a good wringing out.  I'm really going to be testing the limit of this FAL in the accuracy dept, as well as the reliability dept.  I've got to see if it's as bad as some make them out to be.  Has anyone ever really had a poor quality issue with Entreprise?

I've been following your adventures over on the files.  Good looking rifle.

Welcome to the addicition.  Bought a completed CAI about a year and a half ago.  I'm getting ready to start my 7th build and have another parts kit in a box for later.

I too have dealt with Entreprise (got a type 3 without a carry handle cut, on special).  I haven't had the problems the others have had and I have no problem with the para I built on it except gas problems.  Think I've got the gas problems worked out.

I also do ARs on occasion, currently have two.  Just bought one of the Ares gas piston setups from Denny.

Technique for the prevention of the brass kisses that nobody mentioned over there is to take a piece of hook and loop fastner (Velcro) and put a piece of the loop (smooth) over the spot where the kisses are.  Won't prevent the kisses, just the marring.  I have the GP Convertible Optics Platform on my two paras and besides the kisses, I also get a little gouging on the lip of one.

there aren't a whole lot of quality concerns except for a brief period of time years back. the bitch is because of bad business practices by enterprise. there's a long ass thread on the falfiles about it. i would own an entreprise because the quality is generally good, but i wouldn't buy it from them directly after reading that thread. everyone's entitled to their own decisions and i'm glad that the OP got a good FAL that he's happy with.

Congrats! I have never used an Entreprise, so I have no comment. Enjoy your FAL. The reason I am posting is the comment about FAL's being hard on optics. I find that hard to believe. I have never had a problem with even cheap scopes on a FAL, and neither have any of my friends. Perhaps if the gas system is not adjusted correctly, and if it recoils very hard, that would cause an optic to fail. My experience is that the FAL recoils far less than an HK, and they certainly don't have a reputation for destroying optics? ( I am not sure, but I haven't heard about that) I bet that over time, this rifle will remain your favorite. With a decent barrel, and with the head spacing set tight, these rifles can be very accurate. A problem most people have with any .308 battle rifle when shooting for accuracy, is simply overheating. In other words, common sense is necessary.  As I am sure you know, don't blow 20 rounds through one rapidly and then expect minute of angle accuracy with the next mag while it is still hot. It's so very easy to do with these weapons. (ask me how I know)
Regards and congratulations, Willy

Thanks for the tip.  btw I met up with Denny, and he's a class act.  I bought a Recon bbl from him a while back, and I've had some receiver related problems (hacked M4 feed ramps).  I went to store front that is ran by Chuck, I think Denny still owns the store or is a partner.  He didn't have too, but he took the time to meet me there one morning last week.  He took a look at my AR, and said he could smooth it out for me.  Nice guy, and you should see his office.  Lots of ARs, in fact I was in heaven.  I got to talk to a real AR pro, and I was sitting in the middle of at least 20 ARs all of which where just real bad ass.

Back to my FAL.  Took it to the range again yesterday, and I was hitting a 3" target with the irons, and a scope at 100 yds.  I really like this FAL, and I think it looks better with the orginal dust cover on it.  I think I'll keep it this way for the most part.  I like irons better than a scope anyways.   Now I just have to get some better looking furniture.

I'm in the KC metro area.  Drop me an email or an IM, and well have to meet up and do some blasting.  There are quite a few of us that go shooting, but only a couple of us have FALs.

As you surmise, much of the problem that many on the falfiles have with Entreprise has to do with business practices (like, for example, sending their lawyer over to the falfiles to threaten sueing the owner of falfiles (for allowing any bad reviews of Entreprise products on her website) and any members of falfiles reporting problems...

And, any careful reading of the threads there would also turn up a number of problems with the quality of Entreprise products...

Having said that, there are many owners of Entreprise FALs who clearly state that they are quite happy with what they received...

There is no doubt that they've made mistakes in their business practices, but the quality of the FAL I received is great.  I've had a good experience with them, and they seem to be very professional with me.  Maybe they are turning things around.  I honestly believe that all the BS started between Entreprise and one individual, and then it mushroomed out of control through influences of that one individual.  I don't know all of the facts, but I've put as much of the puzzle together with the pieces that I have.  I'm sure I'm missing a few though.  I'm also sure some of the "not so good" business practices by Entreprise in the past has been done by others.  I think that they just happened to of been the ones that got exploited.

Some one once told me that people will never notice the little errors or mistakes unless they have done the same.  By this I mean that some people in business may do some things that are not completely right, but others may do the same, and only point them out because they've done the same.  This is just my take on it, and it may not be right.
