| Has anyone worked with F Series yet? All of my H Series stuff is now wayyyy past recommended time limits and I'm preparing to do another couple of projects. Can F Series be used with stencils and special effects? The applicators guide sidesteps this feature and it appears that Cerakote only recommends flashing and stencils with H Series or Elite. Their product line has gotten a bit confusing. |

The F series cures extremely fast. I’ve been experimenting with stenciling, but I still find it a little tricky at the moment. Different materials to cure faster than others. You have to have a very stable oven temperature and you need to keep checking with an infrared thermometer until you figure out the cure schedule with the different materials. It can be done and I’ve had success, but only in one of my ovens due to its temperature stability. I don’t think it’s particularly worth it, but that is mainly due to me not really having the time to experiment. I can’t really afford to have a stencil, job fail, and start over with my current workload. I’ve seen a couple applicators on Reddit who seemed to have it down. |

So my first impressions are pretty realistic for the time being. I'll wait until we see how everything shakes out for it. Some guys love a challenge, some guys are just trying to get their job done. I'll stick with H Series for the time being. I'd like to try Elite but need a flat, non-reflective finish and Elite appears on samples to be a bit shiney. Elite is amazing as far as durability goes. Probably the toughest spray on surface coating available. All of it does have a higher gloss though. Also, no stenciling. Even the jobs I’ve done that appeared to have a good bond failed. I carried one for about 3 weeks before jt started flaking. I’ve tested by doing a piece, picking at it with a fingernail. If good, hitting it with 150psi air usually caused some to flake off. If it didn’t, I tossed it in an ultrasonic cleaner and the secondary costs of an Elite layer job have always fallen apart in the ultrasonic. Never was able to find a cure window to allow a good bond. Elite is crazy chemical resistant….Cerakote layers bond by chemical reaction. Even after a proper flash cure, Elite is too chemical resistant to ensure a good bond with a secondary layer. Elite can be applied over H series, but nothing can be applied over Elite. When you see someone saying they used elite with stenciling, they usually only used it on the final layer. |
