That looks to be a home built rifle. I suspect that the head space my be too tight and the barrel has been over tightened. It could also have a bent barrel, but over tight is more likely. The locking shoulder is also broken. It looks like it is a South African kit built on a Brazilian upper receiver with either G1 or StG58 hand guards. Being South African would explain all of the copper in the bore. The sling swivels are missing. The rifle, as is, is worth about $700 or so. |

Barrel's overtimed. Check on FALFILES and see if anyone near you has the tools and time to help you out.
Once the barrel's been loosened if it hand-times correctly its just a matter of torquing the barrel correctly. Locking shoulder needs replaced anyways, so you can adjust headspace as needed. Don't shoot it anymore with that broken locking shoulder. |

If its shooting to the right it may be undertimed not overtimed.
Either way, get in touch with someone who has barrel timing tools and line it up properly before shooting. All in all, I say you got a good deal. An imbel receiver is worth about 500 and the parts kit is about 400. The value of FALs with milspec foreign parts will always increase. The same cannot be said for a bushmaster. |
