Quoted: What kind of accuracy should I be expecting from SA58 with 18 inch barrel? I kind of shot 5 inch group at 100 yard. Is that normal? No, it isn't normal. But it isn't unheard of either. You should reasonably expect 3 MOA with quality surplus ammo. The gas regulator setting can significantly affect groups sizes. |

With Fed 150 grain, and using a Leupold 3-9 power scope, if I try hard, I can get less than 2 inch grops at 100 with my DSArms SA58.
A couple of questions: Do you have a good trigger? Even DSArms wasn't very good for me, so I had a job done, to turn it into a good pull. Are you shooting irons, or with a scope? I'm not that impressed with the FAL irons - they seem pretty coarse, and it's a real pain to adjust them for windage. |

One trip to the range a while back I did see just a little less than 2 MOA (about 1.75) from my Imbel FAL.
This was using Winchester 150 gr Silver Tip, with a Nikon fixed 4x scope, ARMS mount and a sandbag rest. My Imbel FAL was built on an unissued kit, so the bore is nearly perfect which helps a lot I'm sure, but really the ammo makes the the most difference in this case. I still see 3-4 MOA using surplus ammo from the same FAL. |
