looking for opinions. I have an AR10T (24 inch barrel etc. etc.) So I am looking for another 308 rifle but a little more easy to carry. Been looking at DSA FAL but thought what if I get another Armalite AR10 but a carbine model, I could use the same mags as my 10T and save some money there but the FAL I "hear" is a more reliable weapon??? What are the FAL folks opinions? Thanks |

I would diversify, it your only concern is interchangeable mags between your rifles, that is no reason to buy a AR10 upper over an entire FAL if you have the money. Mags are cheap even if you buy the brand new ones, and you are not diversifying your calibers, and additional calibers is what adds money, not diversity in the mags you have on hand. The FAL is a sweet gun, and the AR10 is just as sweet, but if it isn't a question of cost in the rifle, only a cost in the magazines, I would diversify. |
Why have the same type of toy twice - get a different one. Even a normal sized FAL will weight less than the AR10T (unless you get a izzy hvy) BTW the Para FAL actually weight more and not as balanced. IMHO, stay with the normal length gas system when getting a 17" or 16" FAL. You get more hand guard space, normal sight radius, and common replacement parts. To save $$$ get the DSA STG58 model. It uses surplus parts but the barrel and receiver are new USA. Accuracy should be on-par with AR10 @ 2MOA |
