You have to pay for the CLEO sig?   Or you mean paying for the trust?

Form 4 transfer fees are not universal. You could look for a different dealer but I understand in Alaska it could prove difficult.

The cleo/trust "fee" I assume you're talking about is either will maker and having someone check it, or having someone draft your trust, a CLEO is supposed to be avoided using the trust route.

Can't beat the stamp

I paid $50 for transfer, $200 stamp, and on my 1st I paid $25 for QWM. Do you pay the CLEO to review/sign your forms? If so just use a trust. $150 is ridiculous for a transfer!

The City Of Anchorge decieded they were getting to many Class 3 request and needed to hire additional help..!
We just passed a 30 mandatory signature for the CLEO signature to Elgileble Clients

I did get a trust, But it was thru a Attorney. There are some holes in some trust
you need to be aware of. Make sure you have it all addressed.

Yea I have a friend with a SOT and FFl, sooo.
Its not a big deal for me Personally.

I still don't agree w the Fees

What are your Transfer Fees?
Do you have CLEO signature requirments?

Last batch was 4 form 4's
I didn't want to pay an additional $2000 for Fees..

The CLEO signature does not apply to the trust transaction.

You include articles of trust, put the item on the property sheet, make a copy of the whole trust workup, and put it in the envelope with 2 form 4's filled to the trust name and address, your name and purpose on the back, questionaire completed, and you also fill out a 4473 (yellow federal NICS form).

When your suppressor is ready to transfer the dealer calls in your NICS background check with the "other category" because the ATF hasn't conducted a background check but has only checked the trust validity.  When he gets a NICS approval, the item is signed out of the A&D book to you and you're good to go.

This is how it was explained by the ATF local to me.

Occasionally they want 18USC cert forms so we include those as well (certification of US citizenship) to prevent a holdup.

You should not need a CLEO signature with a trust.  And if you need one it should not cost $150.  If it does, that's time to see your local congressman and start yet another inquiry into the ATF process, as these types of hangups are freedom robbing.  As Americans we need to be vigilant with regard to our freedoms, because with freedom comes great responsibility.  People before us have been good stewards, and it's our time to carry the baton.

My dealer charges $50 for a suppressor, $100 for a MG for a transfer.
The sheriff charges $45 to process the paperwork and do fingerprints.
I'm sure others pay less, and I'm sure others pay more.

Our local dealers charge $50 for a suppressor and $100 for a MG if you buy it elsewhere and have it transferred to them.  If you use a trust, there should not be a need to a CLEO signature.  The $200 stamp just goes with the territory and I live with it.  Sounds like you're getting robbed!

Those fees are not normal.

I pay $50 for a Title II transfer and the $200 stamp.

That's it.

This.  $50 and $200 per item.

Drop off some Deer Jerky or sausage to your FFL and usually they will waive or reduce the fee.  At least mine does.

If I do not buy something from him here are his rates:

Suppressor & SBR are $25.00
Machine guns are $75.00

If I buy the item from him then I dont get charged transfer fees/shipping.  I dont know how he does it, probably wont be doing it long.  He showed me his cost and he only marked it up $35.00

The prints are free and the CLEO sings for free.

JC, I'm not sure what you are saying here.  It looks like Anchorage passed a law requiring CLEO to sign Form 1s and 4s within 30 days, as long as the individual can legally posses the item.  I see this as a good thing.

You have a trust.  It is already paid for.  You don't need the CLEO signature.  The CLEO signature is irrelevant to your situation, unless you are saying the city is requiring you to get a CLOE signature no matter if you have a trust, LLC, or are transferring as an individual, and charges for the signature.

Your buddy has to make money for doing his job.  If he does transfers for you for free or at a reduced rate, great.

Form 4s: 4 X $200 = $800.
Transfer fee charged by your FFL/SOT: $0 to $100 X 4 = $0 to $400
So that is $800 to $1200 in fees.  Where is the additional $800 to $1200 in fees to make the $2000 you were referring to?

I don't think you'll find many people who are ecstatic about paying fees for anything, but the $200 to the BATFE isn't going away anytime soon, FFL/SOTs have to make a living doing what they do, and any fees assessed by the city for a signature is complete bullshit.

FFL/SOTs typically charge between $50 and $100 for title II transfers, from what I've seen.  Anything less than $50 is icing on the cake and anything over $100 would not have me doing business with them.

you're getting bamboozled.

here in Oklahoma, payed $50 for a transfer, signature was free.  didn't want to deal with the sig, went with a . Alaska is starting to sound like California.

You're getting screwed. Sorry, had to say it.

Dealer I go to charges $100 for transfer for items that aren't bought from him. If a person wants to do a trust, they have a trust template that was written for their customers by their lawyer.

Yes Alaska did sign a law, that if the client is qualified the CLEO has to sign in 30 days.. This is good. I do have a trust which alleviates the need for the CLEO signature, they were nice and responsive, the first Form I had signed, But when you have a couple to do ...
I dont like paying fees for BULL SHIT. and I think this is it.. i had a FFL for years and sent it back.. ( my bad)  I don't think a fee of $150 for a transfer is doing business in good faith. I've been doing business with this Dealer for several years. This is just for the transfers and not for the ones He's stocking. So I guess it evens out.
However again with the Fees. I do have a good friend w a FFL /SOT so I'm not worred about it all..  I'll have to add a couple more ant I should be happy for awhile..
One more 22cal can.. SBR or 2..

150 X 4 for the transfer 600
150 x 4 for the CLEO Signature 600
200 X 4 for the BATF 800
That would be without a trust.

So they passed a good law stating the CLEO must sign qualified individuals and then they start charging $150 a pop. That's a racket.

Piss on that dealer. Give your buddy some business. Since you already have a trust, you've cut the fees by 40 to 50% depending on if you give him $100 or only $50 per transfer. If he does em free, you've cut it by 60%.
