So, I applied for my 01 FFL in the beginning of Sept. The IOI was here a couple of days ago, (very non stress meeting, btw) she said a couple of times, expect your license in 2 to 3 weeks. My question is.... Does anyone let their friends on Facebook or any other place know that you are doing transfers and such? Why or why not?

This is a home biz for the home biz haters....

Well facebook is free advertising and big companies use it so why not a home business. It's all in how big and fast you wanna grow. Look at it this way, you'll never catch a fish if you don't bait the hook.

Be aware that FB is known to be douchebags to people who use their personal pages for business purposes, should they become aware of it. They're especially assholish to gun-related businesses.

That said, you might see if there are any local gun trading FB pages. If there are, you might consider posting an occasional ad for transfer services. Even though they are local pages, through which the vast majority of transfers are going to be done face-to-face, you'll be getting your name out to people who are buying and selling guns online. Surely there are at least some who'll buy from other sites, as well. And, when they do, they might remember seeing your ad from the FB page.

Social media is the way to advertise these days, whether it's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or other sites. You'd be remiss if you didn't take full advantage of them. You might also consider putting ads on your local Armslist page, Gunbroker (get listed on their FFL Finder), and any local gun owner sites you can find.

I am curious as to how you got the interview so quick? I am always told 60 days or more is average.

Set up a separate facebook page for your gun business. Invite your gun-friendly friends to like/follow your new page. Also, look for local gun-enthusiast or buy/sell facebook pages and join those. Be sure to register your transfer services with Gunbroker.com. Send your license to the popular online gun sellers like Bud's and Cheaper than Dirt.

Get yourself up on some of the FFL search engines like Shotgun News and GunBroker
From there it'll be via word of mouth as long as you are decent with people
