I am wanting to get my FFL but I know nothing about what is needed. What where can I go to get this info? Can I run FFL inside my house? Do I need to set up as a business? Do I need to have insurance? What about credit card processing?
Thanks, Josh |
| Yes, you can run it out of your home as long as you are properly zoned to do so. ATF will verify this. That is the biggest hurdle. I'm not sure what you mean by "set it up as a business" - but an FFL is for the purposes of making $, not to enhance your personal collection. That is not to say you have to have display cases in your home, it just means that you have to run it like a business. Collect sales tax, get any local business licenses that are required, etc, etc. |

Do I need to buy ffl123 guide help me understand and get my ffl? What type of license I I want to transfer and sells guns? Do I need to get my business license first then apply for the ffl? Definitely no on the FFL123 crap and no on getting the license first, but part of getting the license is that you certify that within 30 days you will come into compliance with all local/state laws. So if your locals will not grant you the approval you need on a local level then you are screwed. It's best to check with local zoning before even getting serious about applying for an FFL. If you can't get zoned properly then you are just wasting your time. |
