| I posted in the legal section but i figure i might have more luck here... Anyways are you required to have an FFL to thread 10/22 barrels? I understand that you need an FFL 01 to do gunsmithing but if just the barrel is shipped (no receiver) would it be legal to thread them? Also is it legal to buy 10/22 barrels, thread them and sell them as threaded barrels without an FFL? Is an FFL only needed if your working on 'gun' (assembled gun with receiver)? or is it needed if you were to receive 'parts' and work on them like thread barrels and jewel bolts? Thanks a lot |

Under Federal law you can buy, sell, make, and ship any gun part* that is NOT a serial numbered receiver. So if you are just handling barrels then you shouldn't need an FFL.
* there are some gun parts that are not receivers but are regulated by the ATF. Mostly NFA items such as lightning links or adaptors to fit soda bottles onto barrels. |
