I am having a discussion with the gun shop where I buy most of my guns about having them do a transfer for me. I have two guns that I am buying privately in New Hampshire that I want to have sent to me, my guy is telling me that they can only ship interstate from another FFL, not an individual.  All my searching suggests he is wrong, I believe that an individual can ship a handgun as long as it is TO an FFL, Am I wrong?

Yes, you are incorrect. Any intra-state transfer has to have a FFL on sending & receiving ends.

One can ship his/her gun to a FFL w/o having another FFL sending it for them but (IIRC) one cannot do this for a sale, only repair. The original owner MUST retain ownership in that case.

Appros of absolutely nothing at all, should your buddy ship you a box of "machine parts" via FedEx or whomever, who would know?

Thanks, all of my purchases have been face to face so far and I want to do this correctly.

BobCole, is that a state law?  Federal law only requires the recipient of the gun in an interstate shipment to be an FFL.  The sender does not have to be an FFL.  And under federal law, for an intrastate shipment neither the sender nor the recipient needs to be an FFL.

Alrighty then, just got off the phone with the owner of the store, one of his employees gave me wrong info. FFL on the receiving end only.

So, two Colt CCO's will be on their way to me next week...

Once again...WRONG. Sender DOES NOT NEED AN FFL TO SEND-Sheesh, Don't you ever stop spewing CRAP!
