I have a friend (always starts out with "I have a friend", in this case, really, it's a friend) who is concerned that he may have a weapon he is not supposed to have; his brother purchased the weapon years ago from I don't know who. Its a FMP G3 parts kit, but whomever put it together used the original receiver (the one that was cut when it was imported into the country). My friend told me that the receiver appears to be welded back together. He is concerned that it may be illegal. I have checked on-line at several sources, but was unable to find a clear answer to his question. (He asked me because I have my FFL, I have no clue and don't want to be anywhere around this thing.) I did read somewhere that it was legal to use this receiver as long as it was not a FA receiver from the beginning. My friend told me that it only has markings for safe/fire.
Anybody help me out on this? |
