I was at a local shop today and noticed a FN / Mauser rifle, that I'm unsure of, and the staffs not up on Mil-Surp.
Small ring 96 style design straight bolt handle 7x57 mauser 1920 date on stock, roll mark on receiver almost impossible to read length of rifle same as Swede Mauser. Anybody have a clue. $120.00 in good shape |

A true 1893 Mauser has an extra 'ridge' in the left receiver groove. The bottom of the boltface is also machined flat, not round like most Mausers.
Later M95/M96 Mausers are similiar, almost identical to a Spanish M93 otherwise. Also other countries used these rifles (M93) in 7mm too. FN produced Mausers of several different styles, and for many different countries. If it's an un-bubba'd 7mm M93/95/96 style actioned rifle, I'd buy it at the price mentioned, then worry about figuring it out. Probably is South American if it's made by FN. |
