I'm sure this question has been brought up a thousand times however I cannot find a specific answer to what I'm looking for.

Does anyone know if there are multiple magazine bodies that FN is releasing? This is just for FN-H and not ATI, AR57, or best Korea.

In the pic below, which one is the real deal? Left? Right? Both???

The one on the right looks legit. Not sure about the other with the ribs that bow out like that.

That's what is giving me some concern. The one on the left is a 30-rd that came with a NIB PS90 from the local fun store. The one on the right is a 30-rd that came in a FN blue/white box, though the box the magazine came in looked like it had been thrown down a driveway or two before I got it in the mail. I am wondering if FN has multiple generations of magazines. Flip side is someone is passing on fake FN mags.

I just picked up a used gen 3 that came in a blue and white box and had a 30 round mag that looks like the one on the right. I just ordered 5 50 rounders but haven't received them yet. But looking at some pics online it shows the ribs with the bows.

Then I'd say they're both legit. The polymer color also looks very similar. In pictures of the clone mags I've seen they look much darker.

The left one looks like an FNH one and the right one looks like an AR57 one.  The ATI branded Korean ones look like the right one in terms of the ridges we're talking about but the plastic surface is smoother.

Having said that, the AR57 mags work just fine in my experience...

By the way, if you have the mags, an AR57 one should say ARFiveSeven on the other side near the baseplate.

I should also have mentioned that the ATI one will say American Tactical in the same place on the reverse side near the baseplate and the FNH ones that I have seen have a circular manufacturer date stamp in this position with no manufacturer's logo.

For what it's worth...

Forrest, here is the other side of the magazines just above the base plate (orientation remains the same). Other than the differences in the date code, texture of the finish, and the one previously mentioned, there does not appear to be any other discernible differences in the magazine body. I wonder if FNH is now letting others make their magazines for them.

It would be nice if FNH just brand label their own magazines...

Just noticed another difference between the base plates. One base plate appears to have no markings while the other has a number etched into the bottom (the number 4). The picture below is laid out in the same orientation as the previous.

I wish that I had a definitive answer for you.  Both of these most recent pictures look like FNH ones to me.

For a definitive answer, I'd go the the FN Forums and ask there...

Good luck...

As you're noticing, it might not have been much help...

I guess that we'll see what we'll see...

Well, I guess a 25,000+ post true believer (in his own rightness) can get a thread locked over there.

I had no idea it was that touchy there.

Sorry...

By the way, JediYota, come over to falfiles.com and ask your magazine questions.

No one may have a good answer, but at least your thread won't be locked in an hour because of some 'special person' either...

The major consensus from the other forum was that both examples were most likely from FN-H. Different ideas were being discusses when one member got offended for being questioned...and a Mod locked it down. This is why we can't have nice things.

Thanks again Forrest for your help.

Sorry forgot about this thread.  I have some new in the box FNH P90/PS90 factory magazines, some look like the one on the left, some look like the one on the right.  I don't have any that have a "4" on them, but some 30 rounders I have have a "3".

Just out of curiosity, do you have any feel for when (over time) you picked up these different types of mags?

Some have claimed that the bulged ridge one (one the left) is a newer iteration...

Out of the 7, only the original 50 rd. mag that came with the PS90 looks like the one on the left in your first photo.  Rifle was bought about 2 weeks ago.  4 are 30 round magazines bought about 2 weeks ago, they have the small "3" on the base.  2 are original 50 rd mags from '06-'07.  As a side note, all of the 50 rd. magazines have a small hole in the base plate latch detent.
