| While mine is not quite as rough as yours, I do agree that for the price they are charging for them they should have a little better finish on them. I question whether refinishing them will affect their "collectable" status. Personally if/when the finish on mine begins to flake off I will have no problems redoing it in a more durable finish. |
| There are too many PS90s and way too many people that care about collectability now for things like this to ever be collectable. We have shortages of things from yesteryear now because people didn't think about it back 30-40 years ago. Now it seems 50% of the people buying guns put them in the back of the safe and never fire them for any gun costing over $1k. |

Am I the only PS90 owner that thinks the receiver is by far the crappiest casting ever used on a firearm? Hell I have a friend with a Raven .25 auto that he paid $30.00 for that looks FAR better. Considering what FN charges for the PS90 that could do a better job of cleaning up the casting, not to mention their horrendous paint job that is notorious for pealing off. Example of a PS90 as it comes from the factory: http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/PursuitSS/PS90/7dc902050aced985ea7db77a4db180ef.jpg My receiver that I've been sanding and "rattle can" painted: http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/PursuitSS/PS90/8149a59d0101b8ca34e1672d6472af87.jpg Thoughts? I just got mine last week. My receiver looks as bad as yours. I was considering doing some kind of camo paint job on mine so nice to know I can make that look better if I want to. |

Here is what I did, purchase several of the hard foam sanding blocks ( I purchased mine from Ace Hardware). Start with a fairly course grit and work down to a finer grit. I pretty much avoided sanding over the area where the serial number is stamped. At this point I think I'm going to have mine Ceracoated. I'm very happy with the results of sanding mine, it's a little unnerving to start sanding on a gun that retails for what a PS90 brings
Here are a few photos early on in the sanding process, I couldn't believe the porosity of the casting they use:
