Hey all-
I just picked up a SLP MK1 and had a question. I have seen some reference to locking back the bolt during storage.
What is the purpose of doing this.
How long should it be locked back?

Thanks

I don't see a real need to keep it locked back. I was always of the school of thought that in firearms, release all tension prior to storage. I even use a snap cap to "de-cock" all my guns. Mine is just the SLP, not a Mark so maybe there is a difference? Different rules apply if it is your home defense/ first choice/bedside gun.

I store mine with the bolt forward, hammer dropped on a empty chamber with a loaded mag. I do drop 1 shell onto the shell lifter to take a little tension off the mag spring. BSW

The reason for this was to intentially compress the spring to get it to loosen up some.   This is to help with reliability when using normal field loads.  If yours has no problem, then it's a non-issue.
