Tell me about the platform and why you like it...

I'm very tempted to pick one up. Looks like a fun gun.

Thanks.

It is a fun gun.

I picked one up just to shoot it and sell it (I do not sell for profit so it was not a flip gun)

It surprised me because it handles so well and the odd shape actually feels very good.

It is a lousy bench gun but off hand close combat it excels with little muzzle rise it has fast follow up shots.

The short length has a similar profile to a pistol so can be a good in house close shooter.

The trigger sucks compared to a Geissele but with fast shooting you don't notice it only when you do a trigger pull test does it feel not so hot

I do not like the sticky magazine well which makes for slow changes and I do not like the bolt not holding open on the last shot and the fact it can not use P-Mags sucks..

It is a great shooter and everyone that has shot it has been impressed and shocked to have like it so much, me included

The rifle is shaped oddly.  But it feels so good in my hands.

I purchased the standard and regreat the hell out of it.  It looks nice, but Id rather pop the cover off and put a red dot on it, or anything with an illumiated reticle.  The optic also has an odd reticle as well.

Honestly I think its shape is not bad.  My head fits just right behind the optic, and it draws up very well for shooting in the kneeling, standing, etc positions.  I use a single point sling, by UBT (or is it  UBR), its awsome. Prone takes some getting used to, but its not bad.  It is a very light rifle for its size.  I replaced the front grip with a tri-rail.  The tri rail actually makes a noticable difference in the weight and heft of the weapon. I mounted an X300 light and a MagPul AFG on it (the 1st gen AFG had to be cut and modified to fit on the wide bottom rail, but its not bad, Im going to try the second gen ones when I get home from this deployment).

It is LOUD.  The trigger pull doesnt feel that bad to me.   No its not a Geissele, but not much is.  Standing at 25 meters in rapid fire I can put 30 rounds into a pie plate on a target.  Thats good enough for me.  In controlled fire, I can get decent size groups.  Not as good as my tweaked out AR, but still pretty respectable.  It is shorter overall than my M4 with the stock collasped, and has a longer barrel.  I like the safety in the trigger guard.

The downsides?  Handling takes some getting used to.  Prone is a little rough at first (but Ive got it now), its loud.  The muzzle brake, Id like to replace (i believe its pinned).  Get the tactical version, not the std.  Cant use Pmags...nuff said.

Overall I love this rifle, it has quickly become my favorite rife, and would be my goto gun if I needed to get out of town in a hurry.  It is reliable with anything I feed it.

See this thread.

I like mine a lot, and it is in fact my go-to rifle. But I can't speak for you.

It's not an AR. The manual of arms is different. Mistakes made when operating cause issues just like the AR, however how you remedy them, and train to prevent yourself from making them is different.

There a lot of folks who buy one and then complain that the FS2000 is not an AR, that they want to use plastic mags, or that mags not seated all the way cause jams rather than falling out - all are types of the "it's not an AR" complaints.

After a rough start that was quickly fixed, I've loved the FS2000 since. Not one problem. One of the most ergonomic rifles I own.

I found this to be the problem with mine. After you get used to shooting it, and understanding the tricks to it, it shoots like a dream. I had a few FTFs and FTEs at first, but I later realized it was user error.

Well heres some thing for ya;  I dont think you should buy a FS2000.  I hope the demand and prices drop and I can get 2 or 3 more.    That should tell you what I think of them.   The whole "issue" of them not taking Pmags is ok for me.  I live in a ban state and have to get the old metal Pre-ban mags, so never been a complaint.  I have never noticed a trigger pull issue.  If I do any bench shooting I use my SR-25.  It is exactly what it should be!  A kick ass rifle that handles like your not holding any thing heavy.  And yes you doo need to get the tactical, you need the aluminum rail on top.  FN's customer service is top notch, I cant complain.

Spoken like  a guy that did not just order and receive 12 Pmags a couple weeks before he bought a FS2000!!!!!!!!!!!

If I yank out those rubber seals inside the upper mag well will that cause a problem for regular AR mags  and would that allow Pmags to operate?????

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller???

No, even without the rubber seals the PMAGs won't work. You will either need to trim material from every PMAG or from the stock. Same with EMAGs although there is less to trim.

fnforums.com has someone who posted pics of where and what to dremel. I think he fluted his barrel with the same dremel too.

Lancer L5 magazines work with a 30 second belt sand off the rib in the middle of the magazine

The last update I read on that is that they don't angle quite right and have the odd misfeed. Which gen L5? I have some gen2's I should try out in that case.

I don't have it with me at this time but I believe it had a black follower.. Bought it 2-3 years ago to try out. It didn't fit at all first, but I took a belt sander to the magwell rib along the middle, sanded and removed debris.. Works perfect

It takes some getting used to after ARs for service and 700 based bolt guns for hunting. It is actually the rifle for all scenarios whether I like it or not, but the rifle fits me and my use;range, duty, and hunting. It's king of spooky how it grows on you with ease of handling and maintenance, the piston operation is smooth, the adjustable gas block is sweet, and the after-market ERT sling is slick. 5.56 NATO man, SS109s or M855s. 62 gr. of death.
