Has anyone ever tested factory loads and compared them to their own?  I'm curious about Remington UMC .223 ammo.  The cases that I reloaded seemed to resize with minimal effort.  Is UMC ammo loaded light, thus they don't swell as much?  I'm also curious how consistant factory loads are compared to hand loading.

With the kind of pressures .223's operate at, they are all going to expand to fill the chamber.  Remingtons just seem to be a little softer than some other cases.

Remington 55fmj UMC that I've chronographed within the last 2 years got 3120 fps average from a 20" 1/7 AR. Previous UMC purchased  several years ago were 3020 average fps in the same rifle.

Remington UMC 55 grain MC (FMJ) #L223R3V - the stuff that is available in a 50-rd Value Pack from Wal-Mart - chronos 3063 fps in my 20" and 2941 fps in my 16" 1-9" ARs, and is very accurate in both rifles.
This data is from last year late summer.

Actual M193 chronos 3240 fps from the 20", so I would say the Rem/UMC stuff is quite mild.
