Is there any such thing as a factory SBR? I'm looking at getting a SBR soon and would rather get a factory SBR vs manufacturing one if it's possible. Just asking cause I don't think I've ever seen one for sale. Also, I called up the closest class III dealer and he said that I can't get a factory SBR, but I think I've seen people talk about them before on here. Thanks Magoo |
| They're everywhere....I wouldn't say factory cause they have just been manufactured by a title II manufacturer, I'd call them transferable, but you can find them on gunbroker, gunsamerica, and some Title II vendors cmmginc.secure-mall.com/shop/?shop=1&cart=345001&cat=32&, there are some factory COLTs for the taking |
Thanks for the link |

Has anyone received a 6933 from David before? I just talked to my dealer and gave him David's address and according to my dealer: Colt never released a regestered SBR and when it comes in I'll have to regester it and stamp my name on it or it'll already have someones name on it. He said that he's dealt with David before. Anyone know what the real deal is? Thanks Magoo |
Your dealer is correct in that Colt never released a registered SBR to the civilian public. But they are a catalogued item in Colt's LE division, and LE distributors often sell off excess inventory to civilians. It is against Colt policy, but it is 100% legal. David has sold these before, and he has an excellent reputation fo accurate descriptions of what he is selling. If David has your dealer fill out a Form 3 and get it approved before shipping it, the gun is already registered as an SBR. If, instead, David ships it to your dealer as a regular Title 1 firearm (in two packages, keeping the upper and lower separate) then it is not already registered, and you will have to do so. |

I would suggest you find another dealer, this one is going to cause you problems and excessive worry due to his misinformation. Factory SBRs from Colt are available pretty much anytime you want one, some dealer will have one. www.policeguns.com/2006/cart.cfm?CFID=4631484&CFTOKEN=9222013&id=prodview&ProductID=5701 |

You don't specify if you are looking for an AR-15 variant SBR, or some other firearm. As others have noted, Colt, CMMG, and possibly a few others build "factory" SBRs. If you want something other than an AR-15, Khar makes a Thompson SBR, and Vector builds an Uzi SBR. |
I have one, and there's plenty out there (a couple hundred maybe). I got mine from Spiwak last year. It's already registered, requires a Form3 to transfer from him to your NFA dealer, and then $200 on a form4 to transfer from your dealer to you. The only name on the gun is Colt's. |

I have a Colt 6921 on order ... that will be a factory SBR ..... only markings will be Colt original markings. I also had Tom Sawyer make me a custom receiver and register it as an SBR before getting it transferred to me ... so basically that is a factory SBR as well ... no markings required by me when transferred. |
