Fal vs SCAR-H
how big of a diffrance? |
|
FAL is currently available in semiautomatic form.
SCAR-H is not. FAL magazines are relatively cheap and available. SCAR-H magazines are not. FAL uses a rear-locking tilting bolt (similar to FN-49 and SKS) SCAR-H uses a multi-lugged rotating bolt. FAL has a long, well tested history of favorable performance. SCAR-H is being tested and refined. (I think it will turn out to be very reliable.) Changing barrels on the FAL is a gunsmith level task. It's best to buy the barrel you want with an FAL. Changing barrels on the SCAR-H is a user level task. It's best to buy all of the barrels you want when you can with the SCAR-H. FAL butt stocks are generally fixed length of pull. There are some aftermarket adjustable LOP stocks for the FAL. SCAR-H is supposed to be equipped with an adjustable LOP stock. FAL optical sight mounts are generally built onto the receiver cover with varying degrees of success. SCAR-H should be better for mounting optical sights. Karl |
