Most of us have multiple firearms, what is the one that you ALWAYS fondle when you open the safe , vault , whatever.
The one that always draws you to handle it and puts a smile on your face? For me it's a standard fixed sight Ruger Mark 1 that was made in 1976 that has "MADE IN THE 200TH YEAR OF AMERICAN LIBERTY" stamped on the barrel. I don't really know why, but I get a big smile every time I handle it which is every time I open the safe. |

I had to sell most of my guns, so right now I only have my 6.8spc from ARP, my RIA 1911, and my son has his Spikes M4LE. There's my dad's old Mossberg 22lr from the 30s when he was a boyscout, but I handed that down to my son when my dad passed away last summer.
I would have to think back and just go to my memories of guns I had before, and two or three stick out. 1st, one I had the most fun with, was a 10/22, folding tubular/wood stock I got in about 1980. 2nd would be the M1a I had last, a NM , stainless barrel model. I probably shot it better than anything I ever shot before. 3rd would be the Arsenal SLR101s. I used the hell out of it. |
|
I have a WInchester Model 52 (a Browning re-issue) with exceptionally nice wood that is probably my favorite rifle over all in terms of la combination of looks, handling and accuracy (with .22LR) but in terms of just shooting my CZ 453 is my favorite .22LR.
In terms of military weapons or clones, my favorite is probably still the M16A1 as we have "history" with each other. Beyond that it's accurate, well balanced, lightweight and fun to shoot. In terms of pistols, it's my Kimber Ultra Carry II, because it daily wear that I feel odd without. My favorite non military centerfire is probably my Winchester Big Bore 94 in .375 Win. It'f fun to shoot with lighter .38-55 class cast bullet loads and very effective on deer and black bear with 200 or 220 grain jacketed bullets, it carries extremely well and it's well made. |
|
I have a couple too, but the one gun I've kept the longest, despite my tendency to sell/trade a lot, is my Ruger markII. It odds the little 4" bull barrel version.
Back when I lived in TN and had my 4 wheelers, it always rode in one of my fender bags. Goes bang every time with Stingers, and I just have a lot of history with it. |
| As far as shooting goes, my beater A4 clone and 870 rank high in the most fun to shoot and most shot long guns I own. But there's something about my M1 and one of my K98s that make me love them to death. I think my vote would go toward the K98. I have four '98s but won't be happy until I have another fifteen. |

I forgot all about the most current pictures of it: Added SASS gas block to it and my 24 inch 10T. Here they are together:

Here`s mine, 1873 Springfield TD 45-70 that I customized. I cut the barrel to 24" & recrowned it, double set triggers that I installed, ramp front sigt, & tang rear sight. I shoot it out to 200 yds & is right on. I reload my own ammo for it. Jacketed 405g bullets & smokeless powder, & no it won`t wear out the barrel either. http://imageshack.us/a/img19/2369/1001481e.jpg That is pretty awesome. I could see how you would br so fond of it with all of the work you put into it. Great job! |
