Was inspired by the guy spending $1000 on 22 ammo, so went to Wallyworld and bought some 22 ammo. I usually get the bulk Federal Automatch, which is about $15 for 350 rnds. Bulk pack Federal or Remington or Winchester is about the same for 500 rounds. Then CCI Stingers are $7 for 100. Has anyone shot alot of the Federal Automatch ammo? Is it more reliable or accurate than the regular bulk 500 packs? Is it worth it to pay the extra price per round? I would love to get all CCI stinger but it is a bit pricey. |

What are you going to be shooting it in? Honestly, if you can find it at your local Wally-World, I strongly recommend that you purchase the Federal Champion HV (blue box) ammo. It was about $15.90-ish for 500 rounds (a couple of weeks ago). It is far better ammo than either Bulk Pack or AutoMatch, IMHO. It runs my Spike's Tactical ST-22 upper better than anything else I've tried so far. I can't wait to get my Ruger Mark II back from Clark Custom Guns to see how the Champion stacks up against Federal GM Match. |

Don't buy stingers unless you plan on hoping you are going to hit what you are aiming at. It is very fast, but horrible on the accuracy front. I have had better accuracy with Federal automatch than Federal Gold Medal match in a lot of cases. Which one is more accurate changes from day to day, but I have over 7,000 of automatch, and very little of the Gold medal match because there are so many other rounds that kick its ass. |
