I went to get my cleo signature and fingerprints.  I took the fingerprint cards that I had ordered from the atf but the man at the sheriffs office digitally scanned my finger prints and printed it all out on one of there cards, he used white out to cover up their ORI and wrote the ORI off my cards on theirs with a pen. The lines are their cards are black not blue, will these be acceptable or do I need to get my finger prints on the cards I have somewhere else?

Never seen black cards??...I seen red, green and blue. As far as the ORI you should be fine unless something has changed. Sorry this does not answer your question.

I finally got through on the phone, they said that they would not accept scanned finger print cards, they must be ink. She didn't say much about the ORI.  I had my finger prints taken on the correct cards at a different location and mailed my form 1's off today. Now the wait begins.  Thank you for the reply.

I know they take Scanned finger prints...or degital prints. I think the issue was your card...the black ones.

In Pa the state police use a digital scanner for finger prints, but i think they are inked after scanning onto the cards well i hope they do

I got my form 1 back approved about 2 weeks ago.  Local police used scanned fingerprints and I didn't have any holdups in my approval.

I have used scanned fingerprints on department cards. I just printed out labels with the correct ORI and placed them over the department ORI. Worked fine for me at the time (maybe 2 years ago?)

if you've had your prints done before by a leo then you know how to do it.

I'd get an ink pad and roll your own fingers on the cards. The county jail guys are nice enough to do mine for free though.

Many departments use digital live scan, I have done two short barrel rifles the "new" way, ie.. not using the old ink rolling system, the key is making sure the ORI is the one BATFE uses. The PA state police does use the live scan technology. In some sytems, you can have the printing department leave their ORI out, and type in BATFE's or as some have mentioned, white it out. I called BATFE before doing my first rifle, to check on the ORI, and they said the live scan prints were fine.
