[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Fingerprints

My Chief of Police signed my paperwork this afternoon for my new 22lr suppressor, but the secretary was not there. She was on vacation and I was unable to get my fingerprints taken.
I am traveling down to Texas on Monday for business and will be gone for a month. Where else can I get my fingerprints taken? I really need to get the paperwork out before I leave. Any help would be great.

If the ATF will allow it, get an inkpad and do them yourself.

You need the person who takes them to sign it and verify it. Is there any other place beside local law enforcement?

Bring your paperwork and fingerprint cards with you to Texas. Get printed in Texas and mail everything from there...

If you are going to be close to Collin County they will print you but you may have to wait awhile if it's busy.SS

I will be in Lufkin Texas, but will be driving on 59 from Houston to Lufkin. If there are any places on 59 or near Lufkin let me know. Thanks

Is that legal?

Shouldn't be a problem. Give the Lufkin PD or the Angelina County sheriff a call to see when they offer fingerprinting services.

You are allowed to print yourself if you're able to do a decent job of it (the only requirement is you be "properly equipped to take them") and then you sign as the person that did the printing.

I've only heard of cops doing it themselves, but they've usually got a lot of practice and know how to roll the fingers.

I agree. I took prints on prospective employees of the bank I worked at, and did them on FBI cards and never had any rejected by the FBI based on the fact that I wasn't an LEO.

You can have them done anywhere. We print people right at the shop for the Form 4 transfers. Never had a problem..

Thanks for all of the help. I called the Lufkin PD today and they said that the record department can do it. I just need to leave work early because they are only there from 9-5.
