I have a Mossy 590A, parked.

The edges of the opening in the bottom of the receiver are kinda sharp and I want to round them to make it easier on my thumb when loading.

After filing the edges to smooth them, what would be the best way to finish the metal?

I can't remeber if that receiver is aluminum or steel - if it's aluminum, I've had good luck with Birchwood Casey's Aluminum Black - if it's steel, I've also had good luck with their Perma Blue...

What he said.  Remember to completely de-grease the metal prior to applying the desired chemical.  When done keep a light film of oil on the re-finished area.
