I was wondering if anyone knows of a good firearm restorer?  I have a German made: Mauser 98K w/full markings that I would like to have restored to original conition.  Stock and Metal.  Any recommendations help and would be very helpful.  PM me or post.  Thanks.....

i have heard of only one in passing.  The manager of the Puglisi Gun Emporium said that the only guy they trusted to work on their firearms was in central Wisconsin.  i can't remember his name or info, but if you call them they might be able to point you in the correct direction.  here is their web site.Puglisi Gun Emporium.  i've been in their shop a bunch of times, they had a 500 Nittro Express that i wanted bad, but couldn't swing the $.

What is the condition of your 98K? If it is intact but worn, I'd keep it that way. Refinishing often lowers the value.

If bubba has taken a hacksaw and pocket knife to it, then parts can be found at Numrich, Hoosiergunworks, eBay, Samcoglobal, Sarco and other places.

Almost always true.

The stock has normal combat wear and tear.  The metal is in good condition.  The reason I ask is I read a periodical on firearm restoration and one of the guys restored a German Mauser 98k that had SS marking.  The gun after restoration was valued at $5000, presentation quality.  I thought it was BS at first, so I've been asking around.

Not unless it's inlaid with gold & diamonds, IMO. Once a gun is out of its original condition, rare are the times its value is maintained, much less increased.

you just jogged my memory!  that sounds like a www.miltecharms.com line of crap.  they do nice restorations(heard secondhand), but like others have mentioned it ruins any collector value it had.
