I got my license back in December but just now got the money to extend my collection. Purchased today was 1 VZ 24 Mauser, and 1 hex receiver Mosin Nagant. Both where bought from Aim Surplus. I can't wait to get them, especially the Mauser. I have wanted one bad for a long time now and the waiting is going to kill me.I will post pics when i get them.

lol, this is going to be my exact next C&R purchase! Did you go with the hand pick option on either rifle?

I'm supposed to receive my "hand-pick" Czech. VZ-24 Mauser from them today, I'm hoping the hand-pick part is actually worth it. First firearm purchase from AIM.

From what I heard about their last batch of VZ 24's was that they were all very nice. I don't think they always had the hand pick option for this rifle though, as I don't remember seeing it until recently. I could be wrong though, and it could have been there all the while.

Got my VZ. 24 Mauser in today (purchased the hand-pick option).

The Good:
It looks very good when compared to previous surplus rifles that I have purchased. The rifling looks good to the naked eye, the stock is in great shape with only small dings, and the steel is a very dark  black throughout with no shiny spots visible. The bayonet was included but is the only "extra" with the rifle (As advertised).

The Bad:
The serial number for the rifle is hand-engraved on the bolt handle and was done a little sloppy. The top wood piece is mis-matched in color to the bottom piece, but this seems to happen on a lot of surplus rifles, maybe original, who knows? Also, the importer, "R Guns", stamped the side of the receiver with their info, but that may be required of them??

Overall:
I'm very happy with it for the price and for it being a surplus rifle. This will be a shooting rifle for me and I think it will work out great for that.

I choose the hand pick option on the Mosin, but not the Mauser. Should I have choose it for the Mauser too?
