I'm still waiting on my stamp for my first sawed off rifle.  It's a stock Colt 6920 and will saw the barrel off to 10.5".  Should I try the original buffer or go ahead and order an H2 or H3?

do not forget to open up the gas port

also start with a h2 and work to heavier if you only need to.

I would recommend leaving as-is, leave the gas port alone and start with a standard buffer.
If you absolutely have to, open the port and/or start with an H3.

My reasoning is that most manufacturers will start off with an over gassed system
to ensure reliability. No sense in enlarging what is probably an already enlarged gas port.
On the H3 recommendation, you can mix/match the weights between an H3 and Carbine to create
H1 & H2 weights. So if you need to get that perfect weight buffer, you can make it from those two.

If you do need to enlarge the gas port, sneak up on it.

My 10.5 runs great on a standerd car buffer so try that
first and save your money if you don't need to change.

Thanks.  That is the plan.
