Okay hive-mind, I've a quick question about a SBR build. I already know exactly what pieces I am going to build it with, so getting the dimensions for them is not hard. A.) Can I take a stripped lower receiver, engrave it, then put it on a form one. Leave it at the dealer, wait for the Tax Stamp to come back, then finish the assembly of the stripped lower receiver and get upper to put on it? B.) or should I have it engraved, assemble the lower, form one it, tax stamp, get upper to put on? C.) Or am I just being too paranoid? Basically, I want to know if it has to be an assembled lower or can it be a stripped lower while pending. Thanks. Why is this important? IDK, but it has been bugging me not knowing the answer... Ditto.
It only becomes a sbr when you assemble the sbr upper on it. You can can have a fullly assembled non nfa upper on your pending approval lower, your gtg. You can buy all the stuff assemble it and then when your tax stamp arrives you can put your sbr upper on your newly registered lower. Good luck. Also fuk engraving it IMO, I dont know anybody who actually does that. |

I'm under the impression that haveing an assembled SBR upper any where near a operational lower makes for constructive possession of a complete SBR. I believe the ATF refers to it as "means to construct". |
