| This is the first time I will be purchasing body armor. I want some thing that has soft armor as well as front/back plates and side plates, the whole 9 yards. I am looking for something that is good quality and has molle webbing on it. I am willing to spend a decent amount of money for something of good quality. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Do you want a plate carrier (SKD PIG, Mayflower APC, Crye JPC, etc.) or a full size armor carrier (Eagle CIRAS, BAE RBAV, IOTV, etc.)? There are many that fit your description, but what are you planning on using it for? Also, most carriers don't come with integrated armor, so you'll have to buy both soft armor and plates separately. I'd wager that many on ARFcom (myself included) would try to push you towards the PIG. It's very comfortable, well put together, can accommodate both soft and hard armor, and has a good amount of MOLLE space, like you want. |

Unless you want BALCS for the additional coverage area, just get stand alone plates instead of ICW. If you want level 4 capability prepare to pay at least $800 for front/back/side and carrier.
Steel armor is heavy with side plates added, and won't stop XM193 at close range out of a 16"+ barrel weapon, but it's about 1/3 the cost and is more rugged. Just make sure you determine what you actually intend to face with your armor before buying. |

For your requirements of a PC that can take soft armor as well as plates, your best bet is this:
- Mayflower Low Profile Assault Armor Carrier; can also use the SwiftClip system for multiple panel loadouts - Level 4 Standalone Ceramics (you want 2 front plates, a square rear plate won't fit) from Bulletproofme.com @ $220 a plate - Carbon Nanotube BALCS inserts |
