| So I was shooting my SCAR-17s with AAC SDN6 and noticed the POI starting to drop. Cleared the rifle and checked the end cap...no issues. Can was too hot to grasp and check for tightness. Loaded the mag and fired the final two rounds. Last round was very low. Checked the end cap again and sure as heck I kissed it with a round, bending it out a bit. Nothing serious but it did hit. Guess it's time to send it in for a new latch and repair. This one falls under the early SDN-6'a that had improperly heat treated latches. I've prolonged it's life by depressing the latch when threading it on, but it's obviously not holding anymore. So I'll call AAC on Monday, but how do I have to ship a suppressor? Does AAC cover shipping, or just the return (for those who have had repairs done)? Does AAC typically refinish cans when they do warranty work? Thanks! |

AAC does refinish when you send it in, and I *believe* they cover the shipping but I haven't had to send my SDN-6 to them. I'm sure they'll let you know how you need to ship it though. Appreciate it. Yeah I have to call on Monday. That said...it was interesting to watch the POI shift to the 6 o'clock even before the baffle/end cap strike occurred. That's what I get for forgetting the oven mitt at home.... |

Thanks for posting, I recently had an end cap strike on my 762-SD. I just called AAC and they are sending me a return label for it. Not sure if you have the 51t version, but they upgraded my 18t to 51, and the baffle stack was as far as I can tell brand spanking new. So if you have the 18t, I'd ask for the upgrade at the same time, well worth it. |
