Well, I got to shoot my new MSAR today for the first time.. I took my PS90 along and shot that first, then switched to the MSAR...
At first, the gun wouldn't go off at all. An,d I kept getting rounds stuck in the chamber, since they were not going off. After 5 tries, I tore the gun back down (while at the range), and took the firing pin out - then put it back in. After I put everything back together it finally worked. And, it was 100%. I shot 140 rounds - 100 of 5.56, 40 of .223. I also sighted in the factory optic, and it's very accurate. I can't tell you how nice and easy it is to clean the PS90 compared to the MSAR. The MSAR may be easier than an AR, but the PS90 is a dream to clean. Once I get used to the MSAR, it will be easier. But everything is so damn tight right now. I busted my fingers a couple of times. And, cleaning that piston is a pain. The gun shop told me they didn't get very durty - but after just 140 rounds, it was pretty bad. I suppose I'll soak the pieces from the piston in Hoppes for longer. But, I managed to get it pretty clean with a scotchbright pad afterwards. I like the gun a lot, though - and will likely just shoot 5.56, as the ammo is the same cost here at 1 particular store (within a dollar or so for $50). I found that the 223 shot to the right, while the 5/56 was centered. But, that could have been the effects of the wind. |
| Maybe on the next 1 or 2 range trips. My wife hates guns, so I had to go by myself. When I sight in a gun, I usually don't bring a friend, because I want to be the one to shoot it. Hard to take pics of yourself :P Besides, the range was super busy today - maybe I can take some pics if I go on a weekday |

Nice pics, thx! What taclight are you using and how do you activate it? Tomac ETA: What's your gas regulator set to in the pic? The gas regular is on the standard setting in that photo. It does look like it's turned in the pic, but it wasn't. That is a Brinkman xenon light. I had it on my PS90 for a long time, but decided to unbulk my PS90 with all the stuff I had on the rails. I originally used a Scorpion light, but the bulb kept coming out of the socket as I walked up and down the range with the PS90 on a sling. After 3 times of that, I swopped out the Scorpion for a Brinkman, which is about the same brightness (same two 123 battery size too). The Brinkman's been sitting on my shelf with the scope rings on it for about a year now. I decided to throw it on the MSAR's side rail. I activate it with my trigger finger. I noticed one of your older posts had a similar setup (activation wise) - before you switched to your current system. I'm satisfied with the setup and activation. I was thinking of mounting a red lasermax on the optic rail I just ordered - but unless I set up the sling like you have Tomac, I am wondering of the sling attachment point would block the front of the optic rail. I'll have tow ait and see once I order an Urban ERT sling in a couple of months. |

Mine is coming in soon and I would love to have a similar config to that. side note, green lasers look like hella fun. I know its OT

If you can find a small light that is 1" in diameter - just use scope rings. That is what I did.
I prev used a Fobus Tactical Flashlight mount on a PS90 - and essentially had to beat the darned thing down the rail. And, I had to do the same to get it off, damaging the rail in 1 spot. I later found the "secret" that some people do - using standard scope rings. I think there are a few more flashlight mounts available than there weer 3 years ago, as I have seen a few more recently. You could also try a pistol flashlight. I did the green laser thing a few years ago buy buying a cheap Chinese laser. That thing HAD to be higher than the claimed 5 mW, as it was unbelievably bright. It completely lit up a dark room, and it hurt your eyes to look at the spot on the wall at 21 feet or closer. It would easily give your position away - but it was visible to the 1000 or so yards it was advertised for. It also could be seen 100 yards away in the bright sunlight. I guess if you mounted two lasers, that would be cool to have a 100 yard laser for daytime use. But green lasers can be dangerous to the eyes if you are not careful, and the one I had would reflect off of any object even remotely shiny. I'd never own one of those again after my experience, as it crossed my eyes for a microsecond a few times, just reflecting off of vases and other items around the house. Some of the more common pistol green lasers are probably not as bright power wise as this thing was. |

. How was the accuracy, and at what range?
