I picked up my RDIAS back in December and posted at that time about it.  It is a JCB all steel unit serial numbered in the mid-teens -- which I have figured out is a pretty early one as there are reports of serial numbers in the mid 200s from JCB.  It took me until today to get my lower parts kit, receiver, state paperwork, and time to try it out.  I considered sending it to M60 Joe for a check-out before use, but it fit well and didn't appear to be "hacked" at all so I figured I would give it a try first.  One drop of Mil-tec on the trip and into a 14.5 inch Colt M4 upper.  It ran great; couldn't tell it from F/A sear guns I have used in the past.  Then I put on a Colt 10.5 upper and had the same experience--ran like a top.  The range I was on only permits bursts of 5 rounds or less, but I wasn't looking to do mag dumps so that was fine.

I stared out with 3 rounds in the mag, fired one semi, then two auto and inspected the sear.  Tried out one more round each time until I hit the 5 round limit and inspected again--all looked great.  Once the first burst of 3 rounds went down the range it got quiet as the other shooters took a pause, the same thing happened when I switched from the 14.5 to the 10.5 and the sound level went up a bit.

This is the first machinegun I have owned, although I have used quite a few owned by .gov.  I wondered what it would be like to have my own, and it is cool.  I don't know if it is 10K+ cool, but I enjoyed the working to master the new skills needed to keep the bursts in good groups on the target.  It has appreciated in value nicely so it appears to be a sound financial investment so far -- but if I didn't have money in my pension and IRAs all topped up I don't think it would be my first choice to sock money away given the risk laws could change and make the thing worthless in pretty rapid fashion.  (Of couse I also bought Cisco system at $90 back in the .com madness, so we all make choices...).

I wouldn't have done this w/o all the knowlege and support I found on this board.  Thanks to you all.  Now I just need more ammo...

Awesome. I would love to get a RDIAS eventually, but for now my RR M16A1 keeps me happy.

As a broke college, student who loves guns, that little piece of metal is incredibly beautiful.

I am extremely jealous.

I just bought a C Ray Systems all steel DIAS. Submitted the paperwork a couple weeks ago. I also own a Sendra RR converted by Bushmaster. I always wanted a DIAS and that's what I planned on buying first but I found my RR locally for a good price (back in 02 I believe) so that's what I went with. My RR is now going to be a dedicated 22lr set up. Now take that thing out in the country and let it rip!

JCB4ME,

That is one beautiful looking RDIAS!  I'm sure it will last several lifetimes.

It's got to be a thrill to drop that in a newly made firearm and have full auto.  I have a couple of RR's and it makes me nervous everytime I take them out because of the possibility of a KaBoom!

Makes me want to get a RDIAS even more!

Congrats, Enjoy!
