| I'm always looking for a new and better EDC knife. It seems that most people carry folding EDC knifes .I have been reading and watching many review of knifes. It seem to me that most complaints about one design or another stem from the folding mechanism. Sometimes they break, don't open fast enough or get clogged (has happened to me). So I was thinking why not just carry a fixed blade that would fix all that. Is anyone doing that? And if you are what and how? |
| I have a four inch fixed knife. Its about a quarter inch thick flat piece of steel with paracord wrapped around it. I like it. The hardest part when carrying it appendix is hiding the grip while keeping it high enough to grab quickly. The grip is actually a little too thin. Next time I'm going to get a strider with plastic grips so I can hold on to it better. |

I am getting a Spyderco Mule in S90V next paycheck. You can only order from Spyderco's website, but there only $70and they have free ground shipping.

I can deploy my ZT 302 quite easily and put it away (re-secure it in pocket) much easier than re-sheathing a fixed blade. how many of you care to try putting your blade back in the sheath without looking at it? to me it's a matter of convenience for edc. Sure...if a bad guy is not all over you like white on rice. Try it with your pistol jammed or empty in your strong hand and one or two guys with their hands on you, etc. I, too, carry a folder (Spyderco Endura) for EDC but even a second folder in a weakside pocket is very likely to be dropped while being opened during a serious fight where you may be using your pistol to deliver strikes with one hand while trying to fend off and deploy a blade with the other. The Kabar TDI's work well for this use but I am looking for something along the lines of an inexpensive Spyderco Street Beat or very similar. I could care less about blade steel or beautiful workmanship...I just want a strong, sharp tool that conceals easily weakside in a fixed but not too large blade design that can be held on to. If it gets dumped or stays in the BG I don't want to lose $250 or so bucks. |

Never had to deploy a blade with my support hand while pummeling multiple bad guys with my jammed pistol so I guess you are right. |
