I recently aquired a couple of old wingmasters, that were modified into defensive guns about 30 years ago with the thought that I'd update them a bit.  Is the flexitab anti-jam system worth the cost of converting an old gun to the new system?  One of them has a history of jamming.  Is there another solution?  Is there anywhere to buy the parts without going through remington?

You can buy the parts from Brownell's in the factory parts section.  I don't know of anything else that really compares to the flexi-tab conversion as an aftermarket part.  If you have a gun that frequently has problems, you might want to get it for that gun.  You might also want to have that gun checked out by a gunsmith to make sure that the shell latches and everything are working properly.  I would definitely recommend it for a defensive gun but it's also nice to have for a regular sporting shotgun.  It just makes clearing jams much easier and faster.
Good luck.

Thanks,

I'm debating sending the gun into Wilson for the "Remington Steal."  I wouldn't mind having the gun refinished, and the conversion to the flexitab system just might make it all worth while.

The "Remington Steal Deal" is just that!

I have seen "befores" and "afters" and for the money, you just can't beat that deal!

Just got back from dropping one of the guns off at UPS.  Wilson said the turn around would probably be about 3 wks.  When it gets here, if I'm happy, it's sister will go off to wilson too.  I'm doing the basic $199 job.
