| Hey guys just wanted to verify on the form 1 to add additional calibers do you put the additional caliber in the additional description box, or do I squeeze the other calibers in the caliber box. On the form that I have supposely the new one It doesn't have an additional information box it says additional description, makes it sound like it wants other engraved markings or so. |
| All I could fit in the additional Description box was "Also use 7.5, 10.5, 14.5 uppers in .22lr, 9mm, & 5.56/.223" Do you guys think that will be ok. Are you guys sure to put this in the additional Description box on the new form that expires in 2010. First Form 1 so just worried I want it to be right. I just figured the additional Description box was for other identifying marks on the lower. Thanks for the help |

My SBR Form 1 has 'May also be used with 9mm/10.5" barrel, 223/14.5", 22lr/7.5"' as additional description and it was approved on 9/24/08. Oh, quick tip, print it on acid-free, heavy-weight, high quality paper. I used whatever crap was in the printer at the time and in retrospect this stuff's barely thicker than rice paper and who knows what it'll look like in 10 years much less 30+... Kharn |
Good Advice, and put your form 1 somewhere where where even indirect sunlight can't get to it. UV rays seem like they get everywhere, and with standard printer ink, it will fade under normal bedroom conditions. |
I HOPE THAT IS NOT the case. I listed ALL calibers in this box, my dealer said he's always done it that way, and claims they've never been rejected!! WHAT IF YOU ARE REJECTED for something like THIS...(form error). Do you start over... or do they request a "corrected" form and it picks up where it left off? |

It can vary by inspector, but i had my SBR approved less than a year ago by listing less than 16" for the bbl and 'multi' for caliber. Doing it this way did slow down the approval as the inspector did not want to approve it at first, but eventually it went through. I do not know if it is worth the extra wait time to do it my way, maybe now they are OK with it. The other method mentioned above might be better, just relating what I did. |

Good info here. So, let me make sure I've got this right... In box 4h (Additional Description), I can put "Also used with 10.5", 11.5" and 14.5" barrels." If so, it sounds like that should avoid the "multi barrel/caliber" issue that people have been experiencing. Great idea on the acid-free paper, too! |
I put both calibers in the same box on mine, I'll let you guys know if it is a problem. |
I'll say this one more time: There is no requirement for you to put what you are going to engrave, anywhere on the Form 1. That is a groundless internet rumor. The engraving itself is a separate requirement for making an NFA item. Listing it in 4h is like using that space to print that the sky is blue or grass is green: It is a given, and irrelevant to the Form 1 itself. Whether or not you list it on the Form 1, you still need to engrave your receiver with name/city/state of the applicant. So you can fill up 4h with irrelevant info, or you can use it for something useful, like listing additional calibers or barrel lengths. Your choice. |
| Did your form get rejected? I just got mine back with a correction letter. I had placed all calibers in box 4c. They instructed me to put only one caliber in 4c and list additional calibers in 4h. A buddy listed Multi and the examiner called and corrected it for him or atleast listed additional calibers. I think the examiners have different views. I have to correct it and send it back to the ATF, thanfully I don't have to redo my paper work. Anyone doing there own paper work, list only one caliber in 4c (caliber on reciever) and additonal calibers in 4h. Good luck and keep registering them! |
