When entering the serial number on a form 1 for an SBR do you need to include the dash between the letters and numbers, i.e.  XX-XXXXX ?

Thanks

This forum has been a big help!

Enter exactly as it shows on the receiver.

All of our NFA items include the dash, but they were processed on paper forms. If they didn't like the dash they would simply leave them out during entry. NOT SURE how it would behave with online system if it didn't like them. Personally I would leave out the dash for an online. It will definitely get approved, and I can't image you would go to jail for more than a few years if you were checked

You won't go to jail, but probably will have your Efile disapproved.  There have been many members here suffer through this.  Follow Alabama's advice and use what is on the receiver.
