I just wanted to post this here to see what others opinions are on this.

I purchased a Specwar 762 from one of my local dealers on Dec 10, 2015. I just recently called the nfa number to check my status and they said it was approved on April 12th 2016.
However my dealer says he hasn't received the stamp in the mail. He also said it could take up to 3 months for the stamp to actually get to him.

Is this stamp lost in the mail or does it usually take this long for an already approved form 4 to be sent out?

I believe you can request a certified copy after 30 days.  I'm sure someone else will know for certain.

Have your dealer request a certified copy. It takes a couple more weeks to receive. Just went through the same BS.

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately my dealer isn't going to request a certified copy.

ETA: can the trustee request?

Yes.

No difference in you losing your whole folder to a theft or fire or boating accident. If you want a certified copy, request one.

That's what I thought. Leave as little up to the dealer or chance as you can...

After you get the certified copy, probably get a new dealer too.

I will request a cert copy from the atf. It will be fun to walk in and show him the certified copy before he even gets the stamp in the mail. I also stopped doing business with him a while for other reasons as well. This suppressor is the only reason I'm stuck with him for the time being.
