I just got my 6933 approved in early January. It was rejected twice, first time was dealer error.
Second was model in box 4d,we listed M4 just like the lower has stamped.BAFTE required it be listed AR15
I called & was told verbally that it needs to be what is stamped on the lower.Totally contradicting what the return letter stated.
I e-mailed both Ted Clutter & the BAFTE & never got any reply back.
Has anyone else had a rejection for same issue?
Has me puzzled & hoping the other 2 Form 1's that are in process aren't rejected.
Ideas? Experience?

First thought: it's the govt....don't expect common sense to be SOP.

There have been situations where people have had their trusts approved for an item by one examiner and rejected by another because of the way something was written or set up.

The only issue I've ever had with multiple Form 4s and Form 1s was my most recent Form 1 via E-File.

I filed it one night, the next morning I received an e-mail with a question, basically: You entered "A" in box "X", did you mean to enter "B"?

I expected a major problem and possibly a resubmit when I replied - literally - "Oops! Yes, I meant to enter B".

Within 5 minutes I had a reply: "Fixed it, Have a great day"

Love the E-File....

A photo and an explanation letter goes a long way. They get so many screwy forms, especially these days with a bazillion AR lower mfg's out there, and newbs filing their first forms, they see something unusual they just assume you screwed up.

The .300 Blackout SBR I built on my Killdozer commemorative lower has a model of "D335A" after the bulldozer Heemeyer used to build his concrete tank with. I had an interesting conversation when the examiner called me, and I explained, without getting into much detail that "It's an AR15 type rifle, but the manufacturer did indeed put the model as "D335A" and that's what is indeed actually engraved on the side because uh... it's a heavy equipment/bulldozer themed novelty receiver."

Fortunately, I don't think I'll ever be building my Donkey Show lower, engraved by the mfg. as "MOD - BURRO" into a SBR with an S/N of OLE - XXXX, and instead would be going with a 18" SPR'ish build, so I won't have to explain that one.

I had something similar happen last year. My dealer has always listed my LLC as X_X_XXXXXXX LLC and my form 4's have always been approved. Then this year we got a rejection notice for a form 4 for "incorrect corporate name".

Turns out the name on my LLC paperwork is XX_XXXXXX... no space between the first two letters. They hogged me for a SPACE.

I've also had a form 3 from Benelli tied up in BATFE limbo for going on a YEAR now. One rejection and one "problem" status that has been that way since November.

Narry an issue before this, and I've been filing forms since the late 90s.

The NFA examiner's office is one clown car short of a side show these days.

I got a form 4 back couple months ago for a Colt 6943--says M4 for the model--BATF had no problem with it then. I've got a form 4 in for a Colt 6945 right now--says M4 for model--we'll see where it goes.

I have a Sig P516 AR Pistol (7.5 barrel).  I am trying to SBR it, but the model is not stamped on the lower receiver.  There is no model on the lower receiver only Sig mfg / city / state and S/N. I entered the catalog model (P516G2-7B-PSB) on my form 1, and it switched to 'Pending Research'.  I emailed ATF, but have yet to get a reply.  Not sure if there was a better way to specify it's model, but without it being stamped on the lower what can you do?

I have a Sig 516 Gen1 factory SBR and a 516P Gen2 and both have the model as SIG 516.  I used SIG 516 for the model when I did the F1 on the 516P.

Could you engrave SIG 516 on it when you have your trust info engraved?  Good luck on getting it straightened out.

I'm not sure.  Hopefully the ATF will provide some direction.  Surely can't be the first to SBR a Sig AR pistol.  The model 516 is engraved on the upper receiver.
