Yeah, I know, almost a brigade's worth of the MOLLE II kit was made in Multicam for the trials last year. This is the first Multicam MOLLE II Ruck I've seen.  I wasn't aware they made them.  Anyhooo, its complete with the latest tan DownEast frame, waist belt, shoulder straps, and two sustainment pouches.  Used but not abused.

So I was thinking besides the collectors' side, replacing the MOLLE II Frame with the 1606 Airborne Frame, and using the Eagle waistbelt and shoulder straps I got from DownEast a couple years ago.

Aside from the ruck, there was the Rhodesian-style chest rig, plus a box of BAE/Specialty Group Multicam E-Tool Carriers, 6-Mag Bandoleers, 1qt canteen cover, couple M4 mag pouches, single M8 pouches, grenade pouch, flashbang pouches and a single Molle II First Aid Pouch.   I snagged a Multicam Bandoleer to go in the Supply Captain Multicam Claymore Pouch I got last week.

Maybe this?

Out of stock, and rather expensive. Maybe not for what it is, but laying down $500 in one shot for milsurp items is high roller to me!

US Surplus on South Academy at Astrozon.   $179.95 for the pack, 2 sustainment pouches, frame, straps and waist belt, used exc condition.

For the money you are better off going with an HSGI Trash Can or TT Malice in Multicam.

Found their phone number: 719-574-6623

If I had the money, I'd call them up and ask them about this gear....

I already dropped by.... nice hole in the large ruck setup they had in the back... then there was a small box with a few idiot-stick carriers, 9mm mag pockets, M4 mag pockets, 3-4 triple shingles and GP pouch etc.

But Thanks for the tip, I bought a brand new ASEK and an AWS Trauma vest for less than a bill.

Alipad FTW

Have had mine since 2002

For that price I will stick with my TAG Mountain Ruck.

I like the idea of the Alipad.  How much does the whole ruck (empty) with the Alipad weigh?

not too much more than the ducktape/cut-up sleep mat contrivance that it replaced.

but in the end... its still an additional weight penalty if youre looking to shave weight it isnt the route to go

In the grand scheme of things, the ALIPAD imo makes up for the weight in how it helps utilize the dead space (a net gain of CI's) amongst  the wearers back and the alice frame iteself.

If HSGI were to build these using 500D / 330D combination, then I think they would have a winner.

+1 egg. i love it, as i said i have one on my TRASH bag and was looking at getting another for my alice pack.

but wouldnt a 500D version deteriorate faster? what with the friction of wearing a ruck with weight, then you have the shoulder straps rubbing on the alipad, and the alipad rubbing on the wearers shoulders?

I do not think it would degrade any *faster* than 1000D... What folks tend to think is that if you use 1000D on a product, you must use it through out... no this isnt the case.

take nominal LC2 straps... they are made out of 420D pack cloth, they do not immediately degrade, and in some cases, would outlast the pack itself.

all nylons will degrade over time and environmental exposure... HSGIs kit to my knowledge have always been built with the best materials available and I have never encountered any examples of environmentally degraded examples that bore degraded performances.

now consider non-loadbearing segments of the ALI, do they *need* to be 1000D, no.. nor would contact surfaces... IMO body contact surfaces should be lightweight, softer hand materials, with heavier material used in critical loadbearing interfaces only.... this is where the *weight* is dynamically distributed

the net effect is a *lighter* weight, more *comfortable* platform, that while not bending the laws of gravity, can go a long way in extending the bearability of particular articles

I had a fully 1000D ALICE pack from HSGI... pre-TRASH,  this thing weighed a ton and was really unwieldy at that time.  Was this bad?  No, but as processes, materials and engineering thought evolve, I believe it is encumbent for manufacturers to really weigh out and periodically reconsider their designs to incorporate latest advances where, when and if practical.
