I found this about half way through a can of IMR 4350 H4350. Looks like a peice of powder that didn't get cut. Anyone ever see this? I did a few searches but couldn't find anything. Just something interesting I thought I would share.

ETA: I just realized I put IMR 4350. It was H4350. Some times I forget what I have when I'm not looking right at the can. The lot number is 1052010 4828 in case anyone wants to know. If you have a can from the same lot keep an eye out.

I also sent an email to Hodgdon. Will update when I hear back.

Next to a few regular cut granules.

How did you find it and fish it out? I would never notice that until it got stuck in the Chargemaster.

I would load it (assuming total powder charge is the correct weight).

Call or email the people at IMR.  It should not be there.

It doesn't look the same diameter or color.  If so, it's a different powder.

Are you going to set it on fire?

+1, I would light it up and compare the way it burns to the regular cut powder.

I was weighing each charge by hand on a balance beam scale for .30-06. If I was loading anything else I wouldn't have noticed until the powder stopped flowing.

Ooops!

Cut it up and throw it into the case with the rest of the three billion other pieces!

I know times are tough, but I wouldn't load that.

I realize how slight the possibility of it being dangerous are.

I just like to have as much consistency as possible when I load.

I wouldn't load it either.  No telling what it is.  Could be Pencil lead (graphite).

It is the same. I think the camera just made it look that way.

+1 I threw it out. I'm not gonna load it. It would just be one more variable. I would like to keep my handloads as precise as possible.

I'd be interested to mic it and compare.

The point of contacting IMR is that this should not be there.  They should know about it.    They can best advise how to proceed.  Does it mean the powder is contaminated?

I already sent an email with a picture attached and the lot number. Hopefully this gets a quick reply since it's a possible QC concern. They will probably have to sift through the 10,000 others that ask, "why arent you makin more powder?" to get to it though...
